In 2025, Watersplash Swim School celebrates 20 years of teaching swimming and has had the pleasure of teaching 1,000s of children.

It has long been an ambition to build on this experience to introduce our own swimming programme which reflects our approach to teaching.

We have worked closely with our teachers to create progressive levels which include the skills each child will need to master to attain a Watersplash certificate.

Below you will see the Certificates of Achievement and Distance Awards for our beginner students, together with the assessment criteria.

Our Safe Swimmer Awards ensure children have the vital skills needed when swimming, participating in watersports or simply enjoying being around water.

We recognise that confident swimmers need additional challenges. The new Watersplash Swim Academy provides four levels to build stamina, strength and skills.

DISTANCE CERTIFICATES

Learning to swim is more than just mastering strokes and skills. It’s about building confidence, resilience, and safety in the water. That’s why our programme includes a series of Distance Awards, starting with 5 metres and gradually working up to greater challenges. Each new distance gives your child a clear, achievable goal to aim for, keeping them motivated and proud of their progress.

Swimming longer distances helps children develop stamina and strength, as well as refining their technique. The Watersplash Swim School progression means they are never pushed too far, too quickly. Our students build the endurance they need step by step.

Every certificate and badge marks a real achievement your children can feel proud of, while giving you peace of mind that their swimming skills are developing in a safe, structured way.

These distance milestones complement our achievement levels. Once your child reaches Level 4 they will progress to swimming longer distances, eventually reaching several lengths of the pool. We also introduce the Safe Swimmer Awards. Together, this ensures your child is not only confident in swimming further, but also equipped with the knowledge and ability to stay safe.

The Watersplash journey celebrates success at every stage, from those very first few metres to the thrill of completing a much longer swim.

SAFE SWIMMER AWARDS

Our Safe Swimmer Awards are an integral part of our swimming programme. They are designed to ensure children have the vital skills needed when swimming, participating in watersports or simply enjoying being around water.

Once your child reaches Watersplash Level 4, they will need to pass Safe Swimmer 1 in order to progress to Watersplash Level 5. To achieve Watersplash Level 5, Safe Swimmer 2 is required, and so on.
